Greek Mayor Defies Neo-Nazi Party by Wearing Yellow Star of David at Swearing In Ceremony

The recently re-elected mayor of Greece's second largest city, Thessaloniki, wore a yellow Star of David at his swearing-in ceremony. Mayor Yiannis Boutaris, 72, said that he wore the symbol both to acknowledge that over 90 percent of the formerly Jewish city's population was murdered by the Nazis as well as to protest the presence of an extreme right politician from the Neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party.
